Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater (ABU) is a new service by Mastercard that helps you avoid online transaction declines due to changes in your card number or card expiry, with your card-on-file merchants.
Convenience
There's no need to manually update your card information when your card details change.
Seamless payments
Avoid declined transactions due to changes on your card details, such as having a new BPI Credit Mastercard card number as a result of an expired, lost, or stolen card.
Automatic registration
No need to register your credit card/s physically or online.
Effective March 27, 2021, BPI Credit Cardholders will be automatically registered to the Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater.
What is Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater?
How does the Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater (ABU) service work?
It enables automatic updating of your enrolled card details to partner merchants of Mastercard in cases of card renewals or replacements. It will provide convenience because you won’t need to enter your new card details such as Card Number and Expiry dates because Mastercard will do it for you, to avoid payment interruptions or transaction declines. Card upgrades are not yet included in the automatic updating of card details.
Will all the merchants where I’ve saved my card details in, update my card details automatically?
Mastercard ABU is only available to participating merchants. For merchants that do not support ABU, you will have to manually update your enrollment with them whenever there are changes in your card number or card expiry.
Who are the participating merchants of the Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater (ABU) service?
Merchants sign up directly with Mastercard and the list of participating merchants is subject to updates. Here are some merchants that support ABU as of June 2020:
Netflix, Grab, Foodpanda, iTunes, Google Playstore, Steam Games, Agoda, Klook, Paypal
Please confirm with your merchant directly to ensure that they support Mastercard ABU.
How can cardholders register for this benefit?
Cardholders do not need to register to avail of this benefit. Cardholders are automatically covered as long they purchase the item using the eligible BPI Visa card. Cardholders also do not register their online purchase to be covered.
